I am back!
Okay, I had a wonderful holiday in South Africa. It was really great. I returned home less than 6 hours ago, and I am already addicted to the internet again ...
263 threads for me to respond to ... ummm ... I will need some time to catch up

Well, the journey was to Johannesburg, the economic heart of South Africa. After being delayed quite a bit at the airport in the Netherlands (technical malfunction of the plane), I arrived late in the evening in Joburg.
We had a wonderful but short evening. She had taken the next day off from work, so we could shop around a bit. We did that, and then I had to settle into the place she lives. She was working during the weekdays, and I would have to amuse myself at home. By reading, studying, or doing some of the chores. Of course I had the liberty to go into town, but without car or driver's license you won't get far. I took quite a few walks though.
The weekends we spent away from the city. One weekend we went to Cape Town, another weekend to Sterkfontein. These were great excursions. I even got to do some driving (!). Of course we had to go and see some of the game of South Africa. I saw a cute 4-week old baby rhino! it was running around, frollicking ... mind you, it weighed about 70 kgs / 160 lbs.
Of course, the holiday was too short.

The picture department is something we both neglected on an unprecedented scale . We often simply forgot to bring the camera along. And we have seen spectacular things. From the scenery in Cape Town, to the 4 week old rhino.
So sadly, the answer is no to that question .

Don't sweat it, I have a pretty good camera and take in no where. It hasn't even left the case in over a year I bet :?

Don't know yet, as we both will have hectic schedules. We are trying to get everything arranged for the Christmas period. It is still far away, and we have so many things to consider ...

Thanks Star and Luba. It was awesome. Great weatherwise, and it was winter there. We have one problem: her dislike of the cold and my dislike of (extreme) heat. That will give rise to interesting discussions in the future no doubt
