How far away from where you grew up do you live? - Page 2

We're not moving anywhere yet, but I am scaling down already! I've asked my friends not to give me Birthday gifts (I guess that was pretty crass as if I was expecting them to, and I've convinced everyone but two friends) and one says while giving gift "this is Not a Birthday gift!"
I don't like dusting, and trying to dust knickknacks is such a chore, especially when you don't remember who the heck gave it to you in the first place...so why bother accumulating all this stuff?
I'd much rather get together with my friends over a cup of tea, or lunch, or even a drink and have some laughs! That, to me, is the real gift, sharing each other's company!
My Mother used to save everything and there was so much clutter; maybe that's why I'm just the opposite now...

I've got used to having less stuff too, I don't miss it. It's weird, having the opportunity to have a complete lifestyle change with a house move. The landlord was really into design and he left me some of his furniture. Some of the rooms have quite a minimalist feel. I've softened it but I can't redecorate so I've left it and I really like it. It's restful.

I need to go through all my stuff and throw away close to 50% of it. I hate clutter but it seems I can't get away from it for some strange reason.

No but it's funny you should mention that because I almost posted the same thing about stale cheezies in another thread and didn't think it would be in good taste.
