Default Houseplant and gardening website

Is anyone here interested in whether or not we have a gardening website? I'm curious as I'm a big tropical plant encyclopedia but know little of outside plants. I'd need a bit of help with adding content and such, but I think it would be a good resource.

I've recently started to purchase plants again since my last "mass-extinction" when I went away for a few weeks. Having nice house plants not only is great for decoration, but caring for them is a great stress relief, or so it is with me.

Thoughts?

a lot of people are into gardening so it might not be a bad idea duke.

Myself, I kill plants. No matter how ell i think i care for them, they end up shrivling up and dying. I don't particularly like to garden either. gerry's the one who's great at it and usually does it all. As for houseplants, I have none. Every single houseplant i've had in my life just died so i gave up on those.

maybe if you do have a gardening website, it might help people like me who's thumbs aren't green.

Star, your post describes me to the letter! Duke, I think it's a great idea; since I try to read everything on here anyway, some knowledge cast into my brain as well wouldn't hurt at all!

The thing to consider though is, if none of us know much about plants (or keeping them alive that is) we might not get the interest we'd hope for. I think we should go for it but it'd be nice if we could get some "green thumbed" people to join up and give some advice/pointers.

I am a green thumbed person which is why I asked. Until my last extinction I had a:

- Musa (Banana Tree)
- 3 x Ficus Benjamina
- Yucca
- Scindapsus
- Philidendron Selloum

and various other plants off and on such as Wandering Jew, Anthurium, Ivy, Areca Palm, Monstera, Draceana (Dumb Cane), Rubber Tree, etc. Many plants I've had to get rid of over the years because of the amount of space they ultimately consume and changing taste to go with decor (or lack thereof).

My stuff all ends up dying eventually. I did get a good hint on TV to save your coffee grinds and use put them on the top of your plants. I'm trying that one now.

Gardening tips would be interesting...but it varies so much depending on where you live as to how you have to care and how much you have to water. I'll be happy to contribute if you start something though.

I am seriously considering it because gardening is a great hobby, terrific stress reliever and adds beauty to all environments. It's not a site that has to be built up quickly or requires tons of maintenance, just input a few times per week.

We can use a name like plantsupporters or gardensupporters.com as well which will tie in rather nicely with this site and the network in general.

I still have to do something about kidzone as well. I'm hoping to have that back online in the weeks to come.

I'm sure I could contribute nicely to the section on "how to kill a plant". :?

it comes naturally for me to kill plants. Water when you remember to and don't pay attention to where the plant sits for light. I pitty any plant that I have to care for.

Well.....maybe if we compile some information...we could get out of the plant killing phase.

My Mom grows wonderful violets. They are all blooming and look so good. She always gives me one of her favorites and I'll kill it every time. When she comes to visit though..... thru the years I've actually went to the store to purchase a blooming replacement...so she wouldn't know. LOL!
