Hotel Rwanda
Has anyone else seen this movie?
I have a tendency to kind of cross off certain areas of the globe as just destined for problems anyway.....but when I saw this movie a couple of days ago....I sat there and just cried. It was the saddest thing I've ever watched.
I actually sat there telling God I was sorry for not caring when I heard about what was going on over there in the late 90's. It left a major impact on me. What an EXCELLENT movie.

Share some more. One of my friends has it on a cd, but I never had the courage to watch it - I'm a bit scared of highly emotional movies.

They didn't make it gory or scary.....it was more based on the emotions and spirit of the main character...who is a real person.
I think what got me the most about it is that neither the UN or any coalition forces went in to help those people....because much like myself....no one cared. And that was the part that made me ashamed.
I DO have a tendency to look at third world countries and forget that they love their families and are afraid....just like we are. I guess I think they are used to it....when the truth is....no one gets used to it.

The main character was in Traffic and a few other movies that I just love, he's a terrific actor. I haven't seen the movie yet because I was waiting to hear some feedback on it, I may just pick it up this weekend now.

I agree Star....I didn't think it would be interesting either. Chloe wanted to watch it so we did the pay for view. Then....I sat there totally mesmerized thinking 'GOD...this was real!'. It broke my heart.
Duke...the main actor made that show. He was incredible.

He is a fantastic actor and I'll definately be getting it this weekend now. I may even upload some of the more memorable parts of the movie for you to preview before deciding whether or not to see the movie yourself.

Again....it was the realization that this was going on and quite frankly...the world didn't care (including myself) which made this movie so powerful. It'll certainly fix any predisposed prejudices we have. (Not towards blacks....but towards countries outside of our personal knowledge).
I know how much it's changed me just to read about all the poltical things/life events that Twinkle has posted which took place in a country few of us were aware of personally.
This is where the internet and movies are great. It opens up the world....and thus...our hearts.
