Maybe I should follow you're example and start myself. I do have some RRSP's but not much else.

im not sure the differences between the US and canada. Here the most pain free investment is a 401K through work which is tax free until the money is withdrawn. Stone knows more about this stuff then me, so she can help explain some of this stuff.

Yes, but by the time I get there, I'd be dead anyways. So no need to plan for me.

I am lefthanded. Statistically it seems that left handed people live 9 years less than righthanded people! Substract that from the average life expectancy, and I would barely make it to the age on which my government allows for retirement.
Add in some really unhealthy living habits, a somewhat weak constitution, and you know you would not have to bother. And if I might find a career in writing, I'd be living of royalties anyways by that time .

I was surprised when I read that statistic too. I cannot find an explanation that would make sense.
My mother is left handed too, so in my case there might be some genetic component which is not favouring me for a long life. And her father was too, in all probability, but he was a child in the time in which children were punished by their teacher for using their left hands. It also shows in my interests, as I am quite creatively inclined.
You on the other hand, had to adapt probably because of your disability. So don't worry about it.
I might end up as Balzac. At 50 years of age, he could finally marry the woman whom he was interested in, as her husband had finally died. Within the year he died himself.

I think you could find love before you are old, you are intelligent, the language and reference to literature has gone up dramatically on this site since you joined.

Left handedness might be limited hereditary. I really don't know how it works exactly, as it is probably genetically highly complex, not to mention all the non-genetic influences that do exist on people.
And I wonder if people who have handwritings that go from right to left (Arabic comes to mind) have more lefthanded people than in societies where writing is done from left to right.
Anyone with statistics?

i know its roughly 10% in the US, but other then that i dunno. It seems like a recessive genetic trait, but i have never seen an article linking the two.

Yep I have saved for mine and Noah's already, I have a LTC ( long term care Policies) for myself and my parents and cash value life insurance on all of us as well.
I teach people how to save for retirement at my seminars so I lead by example.
Scary statistic: 53% of americans who retire at age 65 blow there 401K's and IRA's within the 1st 3 years of retirement!! WHY because they buy motor homes, corvetts and boats instead of investing there lump sum of life savings.... this is why I stress EIA's ( equity indexed annuities)

yeah thats so bad, i learned that by investing $5000 a year into a 401K starting at 24 will offer a return of around 3.8 million, so with a correction for inflation and taxes it turns into about 1 million of today's spending power, dump that into a 10% yield bond and earn $100,000 a year in interest, which is a good living.
