Default FRIENDS Returning to TV

HOLLYWOOD - Seminal sitcom Friends is returning to television after each of its six stars agreed multi-million dollar deals to star in four one-hour specials.
In a secret meeting before Christmas, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer and Matthew Perry reportedly agreed a $5 million apiece deal with NBC bosses in Los Angeles.

I'm a big fan of this show....so it's good news for me!

When will the torment stop? As you can guess I am no fan of "Friends" or any other sitcom. It is not so much the show that is frustrating (I don't like it, therefore I do not watch), but what the show does to us.

Sometimes I get the impression (and this is real life, no LifeSupporters), that some people cannot talk about anything but "Friends", "Seinfeld" or whatever is being broadcast over here.
They prove to be clueless about politics, art, world-economy, yet still think they are intellectuals / intelligent when they do nothing but that - and we are talking about the so-called intellectual elite!

Rant over. On with the show.

And I respect that. But please, I expect of the socalled elite to be (or wanna-bees) to be able to talk about something else than Friends and Seinfeld in public places. Including classrooms. Or they could try the novel concept of shutting their mouths, when the professor is lecturing!

To be honest, I'm not sure I know anyone who DOES watch Friends besides my kids....but we have to talk about something at the dinner table. We can't talk politics because no one agrees on much. HAHA!

I can see the point, but sometimes disagreement and discussion is more fruitful than people imagine.

Not between my kids. There is no such thing as a meaningful exchange of different opinion. There is name calling and possible food throwing. :?

Elite, such an unfashionable notion!! You'd be soooo surprised of what life can do to you, V. I for one canno stand gossip and I usually laugh out loud at people reading "people" magasins and taking fashions magasin's word for it. Well, at my office most people DO have that type of lecture and talk about that type of things, are being snobs and a tad ipocondriac, but you know what? I'm having the fun of my life (not necessarily "with them", but "at them").

I would have despised such a behaviour, such a way of life, this type of set of values. Now I'm simply having too much fun watching them and hearing them, so start judging them. So loosen up, V, who knows, maybe instead of being a novel writer you'll become script writer and live among "Friends" like producers !!!

I hated friends and was glad when it was finally over. I think David Schwiner is a big wuss, Feebie is a total ditz and I'd love to konk her on the head with a 2 x 4, and the Racheal affair drives me up a wall. The only two characters on there worth watching were Chandler and Joey and you only saw them stint together briefly at best.

Most often I can handle it pretty well. It is the same with music. I

As for becoming a script writer (or even an actor, as my gf once mentioned 8O ) I will have to see that first. I probably could do that, as long as I could overcome the revulsion of / for writing ubergarbage. As that is what is needed on TV, otherwise the program will not be broadcast.

Elite may be an unfashionable notion. Just because it is unfashionable I will have to stick to it. I am not going to define my vocabulary by Miffy - if anyone is even remotely familiar with her.

You mean 'Smelly Cat" ???? We used to make up our own words to it while doing laundry called 'Smelly Socks'. I didn't watch the show when it first came on. I got hooked on it because we used to watch the reruns during dinner....then started watching the regular new shows. I don't even like sitcoms and I liked this one. I liked Seinfeld too. I got my parents hooked on that one.

Years ago...I also liked the Golden Girls before they started getting all policital. I AM Blanche!!!

That's it! 'Smelly Cat' just typing about it gives me the shivers because the memory and picture of her singing it is emblazoned on my mind! (shiver-r-r-r)

I like 'Seinfeld' too, I especially like Elaine! Her laugh and the way she dances just cracks me up! Her and Puddy always on and off...

I liked the 'Golden Girls' and have been a Beatrice Arthur fan since she was 'Maude'. Both those were such great shows..loved them!
