My friend who is moving out here next year is a big doomsayer and its driving me nuts, he is on some rant that the world is going to end because the US economyy is destablizing and that we are going to go into a dark age. Im getting to the point where im just getting fed up with him and will tell him that he isnt gonna live with me because he is insane.

Just as you have your new job and finding a new place, DA, I don't think it's a good idea to have a negative person moving in with you! This should be a happy and peaceful time for you being on your own and having fun! JMHO..

Maybe he's drawn to you because of his obsession with the end of humanity and your obsession over getting laid.

In all honesty da, I'm thinking it's possible you both feed off each other and prolly feel exactly the same about one another. Instead of telling him to take a long walk off a short dock, why not get to the bottom of why he's so obsessed about this topic. You never know, it may give you insight into your own obession or it just may end the friendship. Either way, at least you get something out of it.

You could also try changing the subject when he starts ranting. It might help a little but in any case you need to find some middle ground between the two of you or don't live together. If you can't compromise, you will end up hating each other.

he is even more obsessed with getting laid then me, and he isnt going to anytime soon either, because he is afraid to talk to girls, and when he does he cant keep a conversation going at all, but thats offtopic...but maybe its just a phase its only been a few weeks he has been on this subject.

I think he is a doomsayer because he is even more miserable then me, he complains about everything all the time, how he cant get girls, how he hates where he is living, how he hates school.

and as for me im not really sex obessed now, mostly cause i stopped trying, i havnt even gone out or done anynthing besides work in a month.

I would have fun with him and remind him that he's going into eternity without ever getting laid. Won't put him in a better mood but it might change his focus.
