Does anyone actually read the news?
on the front page?
If so, would you mind either voting on the articles or commenting so I know whether or not what I'm posting is actually useful or just a complete waste of everyones time?
Any articles that you guys would like to see on the page?
By the way, all of you are able to post news on the front page. Your articles go into a queu for me to edit so they may not be posted right away. If you would like to be able to post and edit your own news, please post your interest here of send me a Private message and I'll enable the option for you.

I don't think a company can make you work more than 7 days straight legally. I could be wrong tho but I'd be willing to bet no employer can make you work that many days straight.

Not sure if you guys and gals have noticed, but I've been posting some of the bigger issues on the front page. The latest bomb is about sexual harassment at our schools and the role our children play in the bigger picture. I tell ya, the deeper I look, the more filthy it seems to get.

Working - the rules may be diff depending on what country you are working in. In the USA, an employer can expect you to work 7 days a week if it comes with the territory of the job. They do have to pay overtime. Some pay overtime once if the work day is over 8 hours. Other only pay overtime once you've reached 40 hours.
Sex in School - It's always been what I considered as peer pressure. I never thought about kids being uncomfortable with it. Hmmm - new food for thought.

We're actually in Canada Merika and I thought unless you agreed to these terms at the time of hire then it's your job. I don't believe any Canadian company can legally make you work 7 days straight if not agreed upon in your employment contract. Of course I could be wrong.

Yes.....I knew you were in Canada....that's why I specifically said USA in my post! HAHA!
IF I didn't agree to extensive overtime upon hire...I would keep a memo pad handy and write down a synopsis of any such requests from my employer and what my response was. Then, if you should lose your job down the line and think it's because you denied the overtime demand....you'll have something to take to the Labor Board with facts and dates.
I have several months last year where I only got a day off every couple of weeks (and we worked 10-12 hours every day) only because I was a single Mom. It wrecked my health and almost my family. NOT worth the money for sure!!!!

I work hard for a living and believe I'm an asset to the company I work for. I do tons of overtime when needed but have no desire to live there. The way I look at it is I'm working to live, not living to work. It kinda helps to keep things in perspective.

Once the election is over and I'm not so busy with all my soap box articles elsewhere and donation of time....I'll be able to help out more on here.
