Do you find that kids are growing up faster these days?
I know we grow daily but the issues pre teens and teenagers have to deal with today almost make it feel like they can't be kids.

Great thread topic BA!
I don't want to drag religion into this....and will say this is only MY PERSONAL OPINION. BUT.... as we've seen a decline in accepting a God/religion/spiritual awareness with defined morals...we, as a people, have become a victim of our own interpretation of freedom. Freedom of art has become an unharnessed porn industry. Freedom of speech has become filth being fed into our homes thru TV and radio with no control. Freedom of sex has opened a floodgate of no boundaries.
Young people don't know if they are homo, hetero or bi. Their famous peers, who are probably equally as confused, have thrown out so many images until the difference between love, lust and sex is just a big blur. There are few role models or anyone out there to respect.
Young women want a real man for family and security....but their boyfriends want them to bring along their girlfriend for a threesome. Young men want a good woman as a wife and a mother of their children....but girls think they need to dress like sleazy hookers and sleep with everyone they meet. Truth is...neither side is happy, fulfilled, or finding that wonderful breath of fresh love they so desperately seek.
Most come from broken families, have broken lives and are full of broken dreams. They are sad, hurt and angry...with good reason.
In frustration, many turn to drugs and liquor. They've lost their way and there are few adults around who can look them square in the eye and say....follow me....I know the right way....because we TOO have let all the garbage in life confuse and beguile us. To make it worse....many adults use teen sexuality to entertain themselves....instead of providing protection.
That's what I believe. And it's the saddest thing in the whole wide world.

I agree whole heartily with Merika. I also believe there is a physical reason for the fact that kids grow up too fast. When we were kids and even before we were born the food our mothers' bought wasn't pumped full of hormones to make the chicken bigger or make the cow give more milk. My friend and I noticed that our daughters developed way earlier than we did and I think it is partly because of the hormones in the food. Because of this increased hormone, they mature physically faster than mentally, they develop sexual urges before they know how to handle them and then they are fed all the TV and movie hype where all the girls who get the guy are young, gorgeous, veluptuous and ****ty looking. On top of that are the magazines that only portray the skimpiest of outfits and then when you go to the store to buy clothes all you can find are what the magazines advertise. The young guys also physically mature but again their brains can't keep up with their bodies. The music, the videos, the TV and even some parents who feel they have to live through their kids all add to the problem.
That is my opinion.

no, i think that they have different problems and issues, maybe they have more, but not a lot more. Yes they are physically growing up faster, but not mentally, they still make stupid mistakes. Like my brother is 15 and i have no idea about if he has tried drugs or if he has messed around with girls, all i know is he has no girlfriend. I got frozen out of his life with my parents, so i think unless we are those kids its hard to say what they really think.

I'm surprised you aren't real close to him DA. You seem like such a great guy to have as an older brother. I think you should make an effort to spend some time with him and get to know him.

thats what my parents told me today, kinda weird actually. i was at taco bell today and there was this hot girl there and she looked like 20 something then i heard her talk and she was in High school, but kids look so grown uup now, it would be easy for them to use a fake id to go to a bar and accidentally take one home, i mean im lucky that the age of consent here is 16...
i made 4001 posts now.

Merika, may I say that your post is so true! How are things ever going to get any better if people don't get God into their lives? I watched the News yesterday evening and it is horrifying to see the statistics of younger and younger sexual activity, and diseases that kids haven't even heard about!
DA, I, too, believe getting close to your younger brother would benefit you both...it is lonely being in a family and not being close
Congratulations on the 4000 mark DA!
