That's so NOT true in France.

With 150.000 E you only can get a 50m² appartment at the outskirts of Paris. IF you negociate well, otherwise you get it at 170.000. NOT NEW!

I was reading an article about vacation houses (around 100m² or more, depending on where the location) to buy in the countryside with 200.000 E, but who needed painting and mending - otherwise said, add 40-60. 000 E more.

I won't start talking about milk or eggs or medium income :x !

Me neither - I don't know how they make it. Plus the taxes they pay over here are mind blowing. I'll check it out for you, for my personal pleasure exclusively!

Yes, but at least you can save on some expenses, most notably pants.

I've lived in a few places round Europe (including Moscow which was the second most expensive city on earth when I was there and your average policeman earned 100$ a month.) and now I live in the south of Spain. I've discovered that it all just depends on how much you earn. Rich people and expensive houses and cars everywhere. Poor people and slums everyewhere. Just have to know where to look.

A friend of mine who lives in NYC told me last week that she earns 35,000$ a year (which here in the south of Spain would be considered GREAT money)but lives in a one room-does-everything studio apartment ion the Upper Eastside. Here in an averagely big city in the south of Spain, rent is 500€ / month for about 60m2. It's difficult to find a 25 year mortgage now for much under 1000€/month.
