Default Christmas Spirit

Okay, who besides me, has it already?? Mine has been bubbling up all week, and today it's full-BLOWN! I'm playing some Christmas music already, and would be decorating my tree right now if my husband wasn't working on the living room.

not i either luba, sorry. i really don't get into the spirit until x-mas eve usually. this is one season i really don't like. i don't like to decorate so i wait until about a week before xmas to do all that then on boxing day, it all comes down.

the thought of all that shopping stresses me out. there just isn't enough hours in a day.

Personally, I think we spend WAY too much and do too much at Christmastime instead of kicking back and really looking at what the Spirit of Christmas really means.

I think trying to get the relatives all together is another problem. I don't think there are any families around that don't have at least one 'black sheep' or troublemaker in a family; it would be nice to be proved wrong.

One hears SO many stories of people not wanting to go, maybe establish their own tradition, but feel they HAVE to go because it's always been done and if someone doesn't show up, the Mom, Dad, Grandmother, Auntie, Uncle, etc. would be SOOO hurt! So what if they are, they'll get over it...or not. Strictly their problem!

We put too much emphasis on the wrong things about Christmas; maybe that's why so many have lost the Spirit or are just plain tired to deal with the stress, the fights, the drinking, not being included in a will, old hurts, etc. I could go on and on.

I wish everyone would just look at what happens in their Christmases and just Say 'NO' I'm not going to do what everyone else wants, and stand up for one's own rights. I bet there would be a lot less stress! JMHO!

im "semi-christmasy" we had christmas music on last night which we all sang along to - uh by "we" i mean, my brother, Jon, his fiance, Tasha and her family. right now im not talking to my parents. and am all too glad to be in wales and miles away from them. grrr....thats fr another thread..

but yeah we had christmas music on, an jon and tasha have their tree up and their lights around the stairs which is nice. but back at my parents theres nothing so i loose the christmas spirit. im working every single day tho from 23rd dec to 2nd jan. so im not realy celebrating it this year i'll be at work.

So, with Christmas less than a week away, how is everyone feeling? Has the Christmas Spirit arrived at your house, or in your heart? Are you looking forward to the holidays, or wish they were over? Anyone you really looking forward to see, or anyone you wish you didn't have to see?

I'm very excited as I get to see my Coast family for the next couple of weeks!

I am still not into it. I wish the holidays were over. The only benefit is being with my kids and getting some time off from work. But even the time off now has a damper since I will have to go in for a few days to get some work done.
