Christmas Planning
How soon do you start planning and purchasing for Christmas? Do you keep a special account for it....like a Christmas Club? Do you save on the side? Do you just buy as you go? Do you wait until last minute and hope it pans out?

We've started a new Christmas Tree fund this year...but it only has $3.60 in it. The kids are doing it because they want a new fake tree this year. The one we've been using the past few years is getting really sad looking. The older they got...the higher of boxes I put it on so they would think it still looked tall...but they aren't falling for that one any longer. HAHA!

i plan on starting my x-mas shopping next month this year. I hate being broke at x-mas all the time so i'm going to do something different. I'll start with all my nieces and nephews and grandparents then i'll do my kids and erika. maybe if i do it this way gerry and i can actually get eachother a little something to put under the tree this year.
that's the plan anyhow.

Sounds like a great plan Star. I'm going to try to do all my 'other than kids' shopping early this year too. It's just too hard financially to do everything all in one month.

I decorate my "fake but looks real" tree at the beginning of December, and drive my husband crazy playing Christmas music all month every morning before we go to work!
As for presents, we've scaled down considerably through the years and buy stuff we need to wear, like shoes and heavy shirts (one gets a little chillier every year)!
The sons agreed money was best since they've told me "Mom, the sweaters that you send just suck". We usually pool money together to get the granddaughters a really nice gift!

Ahhh....that's sad. Last year we didn't do a big family Christmas either and the kids didn't like it at all. It just wasn't the same. This year, if I get moved, I want to have a major family Christmas at my house.
