Cell Phone -vs- Home Phone
Who all is using cell phones (or in Meanon's case 'a Moby') rather than keeping a connection in their house?
Jackson purchased a great one with some of his lawn mowing money (yes, he started his own business with a friend and is doing quite well financially). The new 'pay as you go' phones are only 10 cent a minute....and that's not too bad. I think for a kid...a prepaid is the way to go. It teaches responsibility and planning ahead.
The phones now are very cool with the whole picture taking, ring tones, games and internet access.

I love my moby but it's expensive, I use my home phone too. I particularly like txt messaging. During boring meetings, conferences and kids birthday parties they are critical for averting terminal boredom.
Here, they have this facility to send a txt to a land line. Your messaging service rings you and this automated voice belonging to a posh, mad woman reads you the message. We have a lot of fun with that.

We used to have a cell phone (hubby really needed it for the business) and it cost us anywhere between 3 to 4 hundred dollars a month because most of his calls were long distance.
We haven't had a cell phone since then and have no desire to get on either. We found it to be annoying. especially when we're out as a family or on vacation and people call us for nothing really.
We have a home phone and that's enough for us. we don't want a cell phone.

I think the best deal when you have 2 - 4 people having cells in a house is to have a family plan, that's what we have. If I was living by myself, I would probably just use a cell phone over a regular home phone.
star, how long ago did you guys have the cell phones?
Now you can get nationwide service for like 40 bucks and you don't have to pay long distance. And also, there is a way to turn off you cell phone when you don't want to be disturbed.

We're really not interested in having one. I know they're cheaper now then they were 3 years ago but we don't care. I can live without them, besides, having a cell phone stuck to your ears all the time is not good either. did you guys ever hear about it causing tumors or cancer or something like that? I'll see if I can find a link to that because I know that I heard that cell phones are not good for you at all.
I'll stick with my home phone. that's all i need anyhow. I don't even have call waiting because it's annoying to have beeps all the time when you're on the phone.
been there, done it, don't want it. LOL!

I'm going to check around and go with whatever is cheaper. I'm not much of a phone person. Other than keeping up with the kids....I find it to be a major annoyance.

Up until this past year I had no need for a cell phone.
Since we started going to a new church I've made alot of new friends and almost every day last year I was gone doing something and, seeing as my mom would be working during the day, it was nice for us to keep in touch incase either of us had a question.
Up until then, I had no need for a cell phone.

Greg and I both have cell phones and no house phone. I use Metro PCS and get free unlimited minutes, unlimited long distance for 60.00 bucks a months so I don't have to count minutes thank god.

I'm afraid to get a cel phone because I think I'll be the one in 10 million that develops a tumor from it.
I really don't like answering my home phone so now I'll have two phones that I have to ignore.

If you're really worried about getting a tumor, especially if you talk alot, just get an earpiece.

I value my solitude very highly. So I don't have a cell phone or a landline. In case of real emergency, I can always use the cell phone of my brother.
Duke, the chances of developing a cancer are present but slim. I don't have the stats available, but you could also develop tumors from a lot of everyday things you have no control over. Powercables for instance, are rumored (well for 50 years, and still the possibility is not excluded!) to cause various forms of cancer, most notably leukemia.

Oh I know the chances are slim, I just cling to the excuse so I don't have to get one. To be perfectly honest, I simply don't want a cell phone but there have been times when owning one would have been helpful.
