Attitude of young people.....
I probably could've put this elsewhere....but here goes:
I work with alot of young people. Very surprising to me, after working on base for so long where I didn't see that is their attitude towards older people on the phone. Granted, we collect bills....but where in the world did it become 'okay' to be snippy and a smarta$$ to adults older than you are?? Not only do they do it....but do it loudly so all their friends laugh.
It's the one thing from my kids that I absolutely won't tolerate. I am 'polite' to ANYONE older than myself. To this day....I wouldn't DREAM of being disrespectful to my parents or people I consider senior citizens.
Is it a trend or what is that all about? (Hoping NO ONE in here is like that in real life....or I'll hunt you down and slap you....LOL!)

when i worked i noticed that too of young people. they think it's hillarious to be rude to their elders. I don't get it either and i do find that extremely disrespectfull and very rude. it's like they have no manners.

Maybe it's our generation of being parent's fault. I know when I was a teen...I had my mom as a teacher. I said something smart to her in class and she told me to get my A$$ out of her room and go sit in her car. She took me home after class and I didn't see the outside of my room for the whole weekend. On the way home....she didn't mind backhanding me either.
She isn't an abusive mom in any way. It just wasn't acceptable period. BTW....I was a senior in highschool and engaged.

i think you might be right. we've allowed our kids to be more voicetress so this is the result i guess.
I used to think that the "spankings" i got was abuse. i thought that for years but you know what? they weren't abuse. it was discipline period. When mom said "wait until your dad gets home" we were scared cause we knew we were going to get it. we got spanked, grounded and yelled at. all that did keep us in line and we did have respect for our elders. my parents always told us to respect our elders. so, we did and still do.
engaged young!!! wow!!! you must of been what? 17? that's so young. my mother was married at 18, had me at 19. so young! she started dating my dad when she was 14. talk about a long haul! LOL!

Sadly, it happens at my Work, too. I've been told so often how so and so (a young person) tells a Supervisor that they just WON'T do a particular job when asked, and not only that, but verbally abuse the Supervisor...I just can't believe it!!! Fortunately, I work in an area and am so busy with my coworker I don't have time to listen to what's happening around me, but I guess it's because I don't backstab that people trust me and tell me stuff...I just stand there gaping at some of the stories I've heard about young people and their rudeness. Some don't even come to work, just to socialize...I can't believe it...
Of course, the Company just takes it so long..I think it's a three strike system and you're out...so they are given plenty of chances...they just don't get it until they are actually fired...and maybe not even then...just take the same attitude to the next job.

I've noticed this too, especially with Vautrin (just kidding) no respect.
We had this kid working for us one time, he was busy talking to his friends on his cell phone when he should have been working. The owner of the company came up to him and asked him if he could help a customer with a technical problem. The kid said he couldn't because he was busy and went back to talking to his friend on his cell phone. Unbelieveable!

He didn't last too long. He probably didn't mind, gave him more time to talk on the phone.

Ha, that was good for a laugh. You won't catch me easily with a cell phone. I cannot even handle these devices properly :?.
I will be quite respectful to people, and certainly when they deserve it (forums are a bit informal, so I may let that slide once in a while). But don't get on the wrong side of me (making fun of me, in less than humorous fashion for instance), because then you might face the more vicious side of Vautrin (and I am sure Adonai knows what that can mean).
And yes, I have known for a long time that I am not well suited for jobs in commercial settings, nor that I am fit to become a government clerk. Not because I do not want to take the job seriously. But because the job itself would lack all serious meaning for me, if I would have to comply with the standards that already exist.

I was just teasing you Vautrin. It doesn't bother me that we don't think alike, nor do I think less of you. Life would be dull if we all thought alike.

8O Not really; we just don't believe that people, young or old, should be disrespected. If you are hired to do a job, do it, or quit and get something to your liking.
There are some very hardworking young people where I work who do a great job and have a wonderful attitude, too. But a lot don't; they are there for the paycheck, that's it!! They haven't been taught a good work ethic and it's the people that do work that end up working twice as hard because they believe they were hired to work, not visit, not chat, not wander to the water cooler, or stay in the bathroom as long as possible.
