Default Adult Peer Pressure

I know peer pressure is a big deal among teens because they are trying to fit into a group of people which aren't related to their parents. LOL!

As an adult though...has peer pressure among adult friends ever caused you to do or act in a way which you wouldn't do otherwise?

I began dating someone a few years ago who I really liked. We had mutual friends who had introduced us. These friends began to tell me I should do this or that...play hard to get....and much like a silly schoolgirl I actually followed their advice. (Probably over beer 5...which always gives us such great wisdom!) That relationship ended before it ever had a chance to get going. A couple of years later....I found out he was very upset about it.

I deeply regret what happened. Not because it may have been a match made in heaven...but only because I acted SO STUPID due to listening to other people.

I wonder if anyone else has a similar story.

I don't fall for adult related peer pressure at all. I really don't care what anyone thinks about me except my daughter and the woman in my life. Everyone else is welcome to their opinions but they don't affect me much.

No Adult Peer Pressure for me, either. But being a "People Pleaser" not being able to say "No" to friends or family if I didn't want to do something.
But the great thing about being my age is it's much easier now, though sometimes I hesitate a little, not much!
I try to look after myself more and my needs and interests, and I am gentle with my husband's needs as well!

No. Never suffered from it as a teen either. Yes, that seldomly happens, but it was true in my case.

When I graduated from secondary school (that's pre-university), all of the students received a book by the writer Vestdijk. I could not stand his writing, so I kindly returned the gift. Mind you, I did that at the ceremony where I received my diploma. 2 Years later my brother did the same, and another one or two years later they stopped the whole thing.
I am a trend-setter 8) .

I sure did suffer from it. Now I've decided that I'm just not that interested in beig Miss Popularity, but get to know other people and hopefully meet people who like me for myself.

It's still hard, but I'm working at it.
