Would you hire your parents?
i am looking for a cleaning lady and my mother volenteered to do it. Well I don't feel comfortable having her do so, 1st of all she's my mother not my maid 2nd of all I don't want to be nagged on how dirty this or that was 3rd of all i don't want her diging in my personal things and she will....
She said she needs the money and I should let her do it rather than give the money to a stranger. I feel awkward more about the part that i'm paying ol mommy to clean my mess.... i don't know do you think I'm over reacting?

Gosh....I don't know Stoneheather. It WOULD feel kinda odd. My Mom wouldn't even go thru my stuff and I'd feel wierd about her being my maid whether she needed the money or not. I'd end up just giving her the money she needed and cleaning the house myself....due to some wierd guilt thing.
However, if you think about it.....you are pregnant and really need the help....she really needs the job.....so it should be do able.
I don't know though.....we'll see what everyone else's opinion is.

Maybe she WOULD rather earn it. There's still the problem with you feeling like she would be all into your business and invade your privacy though. That would be a tough call for sure.

I wouldn't have a problem with it at all. I'd rather my mother go through my things then a stranger. At least I know my things would stay where they belong and not go missing.
Sounds like your mother would rather earn the money then take it. I say go for it!

Star made an excellent point. At least your Mom won't steal your stuff....like an outsider might.
As far as Duke's point....another thought....is she GOOD at cleaning? Some people are better than others and it would be hard to 'correct' your Mom if she didn't do the quality of job you were looking for. My Mom wouldn't because she isn't picky like I am.

I can see how it would feel akward having your mom as a cleaning lady because it can feel like an invasion of privacy, especially by your mate.

Well this morning I went to tell her that it isn't going to work and she then told me if she doesnt' make some extra money soon then she has to get a second job.... ( witch pisses me off in the 1st place since my 22 year old brother lives there rent FREE!!) So she twisted my arm and I told her she can do it on Tuesdays on her 1/2 day.... now I feel like I have to pay her more because she is my mother and I have to tell her that my office is off limites ( she likes to rearange things) and she doesn't clean as well as I'd like her to. EURGGG!!! i know I sound like a spoiled brat but I am a complete slob, my son is a slob and Greg's never home so somethings got to be done around here.

You probably have a point there Duke...I forget there ARE Mom's out there who aren't as domestically dedicated as others. I wish I was like that....and my kids probably do too!
