Would You Donate
a much needed organ to a friend or family member if you were asked and you were compatible? Would you donate an organ to someone you didn't know?

Re: Would You Donate
Eh, we have legislation in place here on the subject of donor organs. So it is a question that is much discussed here.
I opted to let my relatives decide, in case I can't make the decision (coma, or death). The problem is, I am not supporting people who willingly abuse their liver or whatever organ, just to be granted one. And I know of cases where that just did happen.
For me it is dependent on the recipient.

Re: Would You Donate
Yes I would give them to someone, even if they needed a liver because of being an alcoholic or something like that. I believe that everyone deserves a second chance and if that second chance means me having to give up an organ that I don't need for someone to at least attempt to make their life right. Then yes I would give it to them.

Re: Would You Donate
But obviously to give up a liver I would have to have already been passed, but as for if I was alive and an organ such as a kidney was needed then yes, still feel the same way

Re: Would You Donate
Let me explain my reserved position a bit further:
In South Africa there was a lot of controversy surrounding the Health Minister, who allegedly drank so much alcohol that she ended up with liver cirrhosis. Various accounts seem to corroborate this. I would venture to guess that about 25% of all health stories in the South African press are about the Health of the Health Minister. And then there are the stories that she jumped the queue for a liver.
She is also well known for her AIDS-denialism, which is just about the last thing a country needs with 5.3 million HIV-positive people. And she also has stolen patient's valuables while they were anaesthesised - which is on record as well, as she was even convicted for the thefts.
I personally think she should be tried for genocide in The Hague, as she contributed in a major fashion in the deaths of hundreds of thousands people. I have no sympathy for those who are running the Health Department in such an abysmal way.

Re: Would You Donate
I would let anyone have them, when I die. While alive, I am guessing, only loved ones would get an extra kidney or bone marrow, etc.... Never been in that situation...

That's just beautiful!
I won't talk to FB about this, but he already thinks every organ I have is ancient and beyond hope to help anybody.
Seriously though, it would be a good thing to help save a life, maybe more than one.
