Tracking down lost friends
So, I'm trying to find an old friend who lives in Australia. I have her first and last name, and middle initial.
I haven't talked to her in about 3 years and her email address does not work anymore, and I can't use the phone number I have because I don't know the city code. It's becoming a big pain in the butt. Reason I am trying to get ahold of her is because I am fairly certain I am going to Australia for a while and would like to get in contact with her.
So, if anyone knows anyone or anything about finding people on the other side of the world, lemme know please!

Re:
i track down people every day at work (skip tracing - part of collecting) and the tools we use are online phone books and info direct. info direct is only for canada though and i think you have to pay for that (not sure) but, the internet is a wealth of information and you can find anyone. try googling her name and look for a phone book of the country australia. do you know where she last lived? any of her friends? if you know her old address, then look up some neighbours. they might know where she is or be able to give you some clue. track down some family members....

Well I found an ancient email from her with a bunch of other address on it, so I sent off an email to everyone else that was on it. No one has heard from her since that email, except one, and she is trying to help me track her down.
See, there is no reverse phone directory in aus, it's pretty damn had to look someone up. You can't even look up first and last names. It's just first initial and last name.

Re: Tracking down lost friends
Yeah I can find white pages, but do you know how many F Anderson's there are? I don't know what city she lives in either so that makes it a bit hard.
Anyways, been talking with her friend quite a bit and now she wants to meet me when I get to Sydney and she'll play the tour guide heh.

So why can't her friend tell you where she is?

Re: Tracking down lost friends
That sounds all well and good in theory, but all I have is a cell phone and those would be international calls. Besides, in just Sydney there were over 100 F andersons.
