Sibling Rivalry
Any of you have a brother or sister that you always argue with or not too fond of? Do your kids (if you have kids) always argue and fight?
I have one brother that I never really got along with too well. When we were kids, we used to physically fight every day. I just couldn't stand him and he me. Now that we're older, we still don't like eachother much but do our best to get along for our kids sakes. Amaizingly enough, he was the first to give me a call and give me most of the baby things I needed for Erika when everyone found out we were going to keep her in our family. So, even though we don't have the tight knit "brother and sister" relationship, we are there for eachother when it comes down to the crunch.
My girls argue and fight so much it's driving me batty!!! They call eachother names everyday, hit eachother and make rude comments. It's really sad because they only have eachother to count on really. I can hardly wait until they grow out this rivalry phase. Drives me nuts!

I was a bad brother and picked on him a lot when I was younger. I think we care for each other but we rarely talk (sometimes as little as a few times per year). It's a little sad but it's both of our faults.

WELCOME TO MY HELL!
Some of this....
Some of this.....
And LOTS of this....
It simply drives me INSANE! I should just go out and buy a Referee Shirt and count it as Mom Wardrobe.

That's just a part of life with having kids, it's a competition for attention. More often than not, kids will grow out of it.

All I can say is that if they treat their spouses like that one day.....I feel sorry for the spouse.

I really don't think it's something that will transfer to a spouse. It's not the same when your an adult because your not competing for attention with your spouse.

You really have to live with it as a parent to know how ANNOYING it is. It disrupts the entire household. We don't get thru one day without a blow up of some sort between the two of them.

I find that the bikering and arguing and fighting really grinds at my nerves more then anything else in this world. Now i know why my parents used to flip when my brothers and i used to be that way. I remember going on a vacation by driving the car and my dad getting so mad that he's turning around trying to spank any part of our bodies because we were grinding on his nerves so much. we used to do that on perpose!! LOL! i was the nastiest one to my brothers though. I used to pinch their arms. they had perma-pinch marks all over their forearms all the time. When they did have time to heal and we were about to go on a vacation, my parents used to warn me not to pinch them so that they had no marks when we went on the vacation. they always had the marks. I was a nasty little child. :?

I'm not saying it's not annoying, anyone bickering bugs the hell out of me. Problem is, when you're competing for attention you'll do whatever necessary to get it. It's not just children who play the game under these rules either.

That's too funny Star. I bet your Dad wished a child on your just like you were so you would understand the hell you put the family thru.... and it kinda happened.....LOL!
I used to make retarded scary type faces at my little brother when no one was looking. He would be all scared I would kill him at night!
As we got older though....we didn't fight much at all. My kids are teen and preteen....and KNOW better than to yell and scream until all the neighbors can hear them.

I used to crotch my brother with a wet sponge whenever we did the dishes. My dad would yell at me to stop instigating so I'd calmly walk into the living room and do a little jig. It always made them forget they were mad at me for picking on him.

At least, not so far.
