BY CHARLES RUNNELLS A Cape Coral man confessed Sunday to killing his father and burning his body in a remote field, police said. A woman walking her dogs Saturday night found the body of James LeClair Sr., 52, in a Northwest 27th Terrace field near Chiquita Boulevard, police said. His son - James LeClair Jr., 21, of 3424 S.W. Third Ave. - later told detectives he killed his father at their house sometime after 6:30 p.m Saturday, police said. Then he loaded the trunk drove 15 miles and lit the body of his father on fire.

These men we're my neighbors, the father taught my brother how to play baseball.

All this murder talk reminded me of this story. The son is being charged with 2nd degree murder and will probably walk

because he had a history of drug abuse and mental illness.

that is so sad SH. What on earth would've possesed the son to kill his father like that? then take him someplace to burn his body? I do hope he doesn't get off on this. He should be punished for life.

The guy was such a great dad to, the son was always a littled skrewed up I think he was just to lazy to do anything so he did drugs and mooched off his parents, the only thing the dad asked of his son was to mow the lawn and he lived free..... The man was wonderful always asking about my son, my dad ect... he had so much concern about other people, I think his son was his bigest disipointment but he never gave up on the little prick... It's hear renching the mother and daughter still live there. I don't know how they deal with it....

The most skrewed up thing about the whole situation is I BET if the father lived he would have forgave his son and still tried to help him... I hope he rots in jail but he won't I know if he ever comes back to my parents neighborhood he will be a dead man walking, they lived in the same house for 25 years.

Something similar happened to my cousins this summer. The son killed his mothers brother, actually beat him to death. The son had a history of mental problems and I'm still not sure what the outcome will be. I had another cousin who was murdered several years ago by her boyfriend as well.

Greg had a long history of mental problems to, never actually been violent but still makes you wonder sometimes.

You are right SH....they will probably let the son off after some half a$$ed psychological testing and excuses. Just make sure to keep your distance and avoid him.

I don't think the kid has the balls to come back home to our neighborhood, we are verry closley knit, his dad was always the friendly man who helped everyone, had haunted houses for the kids ect... I think the kid will get beat up on a daily basis if he shows up

I was thinking about this after I posted. No matter how nice a person may appear to the neighbors....we really never know what has went on in the home. There is no telling WHY this kid went off the deep end....and was possibly heading there a long time.
