Kids getting into trouble at school
I just about fell off my chair the other day when I got a call from the school principal to tell me that KASSANDRA almost got suspended from school! Kassandra has NEVER got into trouble at school, ever. I was even more shocked as to the reason why.
her and a few of her friends (they're all very good kids that never get into trouble) decided that it would be a fun joke to pants eachother in the school yard. "pantsing" is when kids pull down eachother's pants.
Kassandra fessed up to what she did and so did another one of her friends. the other two didn't. so, I was not impressed and i was shocked all at the same time because kassandra never does anything to anyone that she wouldn't want them to do to her.
The principal decided that he wasn't going to suspend her because he, as i was, was shocked that kassandra was even involved in a such a thing. he punished her for one day at school. she had to sit with the grade 5 class all day long and do everything they did along with the class. this was embarassing for her therefore a very good punishment.
I grounded her for 2 weeks. she isn't allowed to go anywhere with friends or talk to them on the phone for the full two weeks. She's okay with that and she knows that what she did was wrong and willing to take her punishment (I have such a great kid!)
She came home the day it all happened and she was crying and scared because she never gets into trouble. I told her that this is a lesson learned. you don't do something stupid just because everybody else is soing it. and that two wrongs don't make a right. She agreed that what she did was very stupid and she'll never do anything like that again.
The things that kids do! pantsing! OMG!

I am sorry to hear this Star. I can only agree with the punishment you gave.
However, I get the impression that school, especially at the most vulnerable times in the life of children, is often one of the actual motivators of these kinds of behavior.
I actually called one of my teachers in secondary school a "fascist", but I did not get suspended at all. Must be because my grades were excellent, and had not been in trouble before. Why did I do it? Because I was bored to death with school. I was 18!
Given her age, Kassandra (I love that name as you know) will probably face the issues of authority, sexuality and all that. Not an easy time for any teenager. It is not all about discipline only, but also about guidance.

she's got the tools that we taught her to guide her through it. I'm sure she'll be fine. she'll make mistakes here and there but in the end, she'll be okay.
She was extremely thankful that she didn't get suspended. she's learned her lesson. We can't expect our kids to be perfect. that would be unrealistic thinking.
She was most afraid of her dad and I being disapointed in her. She hates to disapoint us and always thrives on making us proud of her. this is a very good foundation to start with I think.

Don't prounance the word "sexuality" when you're talking abut KAss, you're scaring Star to death, !
Star, be sure to be firm with her and show her how disapointed you were with her behaviour!
Isn't she a tad old for this game? We would play this when we were in kindergarden - boys would, girls were having little dresses as unifoms, so they'd run to get us and put the skirts in our heads  . Later they grow to catching us and forcing a little kiss on our cheek. Bleah, cooooties!!!

sexuality and kassandra doesn't mix ever! YIKES!! 8O
yes, it is quite the infantile game they were playing and I did tell her that. Told her that her little cousin did that in the first grade. she's really embarassed about doing it. she is very mature for her age which is why this was so shocking!!!!
That's the first thing I said to her when she came home that day is how disapointed i was with her. she bawled her eyes out and was afraid that i would never be proud of her again or trust her. I reassured her that that wouldn't happen.
my little kassandra is very sensitive and proud of who she is so when she does something stupid, she's angry at herself for allowing herself to make the mistake. she really is a great kid!

Don't worry, Star, Kass is a good kid. We're sure that the school punishment was the perfect medicine for her.
What crazy hormones will do to a perfectly normal teen  !
Pantsy, OMG! Threatern to tell this story at her wedding. That should calm her down if nothing else will! It's normal for teens to get into troubles, especially that type of trouble. I mean it. It's NORMAL!

There are times when I've been upset over something one of my kids did at school...but then I remember when I was that age....we did some pretty goofy things too. Some of it is just part of growing up.
It's not like she had drugs in her locker or stole something. It was just a silly prank. I agree we have to react as parents and show kids that there is a price to pay for their mistakes....but at least it was something harmless enough. I thought in gym, especially with boys, it was almost EXPECTED behavior.
Poor Kassandra...she was probably mortified she even got in the position of getting herself into trouble. I was like that too as a kid. My oldest was also...my last two kids don't care. LOL!

she was mortified! Krystal never cared about getting into trouble. trouble should've been her middle name but kassandra is the opposite.
I laughed when she came home to tell me that her punishment from the principal was to stay in the grade 5 class all day. LMAO!

That was a good punishment, she will learn her lesson. I am still trying to figure out how you come up with the idea of playing pantsing, she seems like a good kid though and now you dont have to worry about her ending up on one of thos movies where college chicks expose themselves.

Well I guess now is not the time for me to chime in about how me and my friends always pantsed each other as well. We'd usually wait for one of our group to be talking to a woman first before we did it.

Oddly enough....I've never even seen anyone be 'pantsed'. It actually DOES sound kinda funny!
