How friggen Rude!!
My "Sister in Law" greg's Sister just called me and basically said " We invited You and Greg over to the condo for New Years eve, but I decided that you will have to rent your own because my brother never splits any bills with me and I am not going to be stuck paying for it, the price is $600 a night and the condo's are booked so maby you should call and put yourself on a waiting list"
OMG there parents own the condo, why is she trying to make money off us! I wasn't even aware we we're invited and I don't even want to go
in the 1st place. So I just told her that we didn't even want to be around kid's on New Years eve so we won't be attending any parties that children will be present because this is our party night and we won't have our own kids.
So I guess that was her way of "disinviting" us 8O What a B**CH

Very rude.
"I decided" tells that she is the one who creates the problem. Unless she runs Greg's family that is. Somehow I doubt that.
Forget about going there, under these circumstances.

Stone, I don't think you should be treated this way, down payment or not, and I would have a "talk" with these people! Just because these people have money doesn't give them the right to be condescending to you!

Ahhh.....life is short. Kiss up till you get the house...then call her up saying "I decided to tell you to kiss my A$$!".

Who cares about their freakin' party, I'm sure it's just a bunch of snobs getting drunk together.
As for the arse kissin'... damn, that's a taugh business. Just tell her you have plans somewhere else anyway, and try to seem really disapointed that you couldn't make it. And then say something "very encouraging" like "I'm sure you'll have a very good time" and sound just a little condescending.
Only you know the irony behind it and you aren't making yourself an enemy.

Send me to the party, I'll be sure to traumatize all the guests. I'm a fantastic party crasher!
