Family Cucumber Story
As a family of five, we all just LOVE/LOVED Cucumbers. My Mother had the BEST hotbeds tended with loving care. My brother, Peter, ALWAYS had to have the first Cucumbers, no matter what. The funny part comes in is my sweet, sweet Mom used to hide them under the Cucumber leaves; some hiding place that just leaves me with a wonderful memory and a much-needed laugh! He's always snitch the first and succeeding cucumbers and would get in trouble with Mom, but that didn't phase him at all! LOVE the guy!

Re: Family Cucumber Story
I remember being a kid there and plucking cucumbers out of the ground, washing them with the garden hose and eating them as we played.

Re: Family Cucumber Story
Any Food completley fresh is the best.
I must confess i had a cucumber addiction when i was younger. My Grandad would grow it and when we use to go round, I would sneek into the garden and steal some cucumber. I still love it now. Fantastic on a tuna sandwich.

Aren't those personal memories the BEST, kathy?
I LOVE tuna and Cucumber, but never tried it together. I have tuna sandwiches with diced onion and pickle, should try your idea.

I was downtown today and should have bought a cucumber. I would then be trying it right now, kathy!

My mom used to make them too but I also didn't learn how. They were good too.

Re: Family Cucumber Story
Making pickles involved pickling spices, vinegar, cucumbers, and a pressure cooker. I remember my mom making them as well but the exact recipe was something I never paid attention to.
