Cheap Family Members
My Dad is cheap beyond words. He has LOTS of money and just doesn't share. For Christmas, he personally gave the kids and I $20 a piece. We were shocked. It was the worst display yet!
I would never dream of asking him for help or money. If I did...it would be just that....a dream of ever getting any. Even when I was in high school....I would either have earned my OWN money for a car, gas and clothes or I just wasn't going to have any of it.
My Mom is the opposite and always worked or else he would have nickled and dimed her to death too.
I love my Dad and am very close to him. But he's one cheap SOB!
How about your family?

my parents are really generous as are my brothers when it comes to helping out and gifts. Hubby's side of the family though, his baby sister is the cheapo. she won't spend no more then 10.00 on a gift for the kids. so now, we do the same with her kids. she's always complaining on how broke she is but her kids wear the best of clothes as does she and her husband, they have 2 cars, own a nice big house. they're not broke. she's just cheap!

My brother's wife is like that. No one goes there to eat because
1. She hardly ever invites anyone over.
2. When you leave you are STARVING to death.
We all ate there as a family once and she HALVED the chicken thigh/leg whole pieces after grilling them.....and couted out one piece for each person....and put the REST in her fridge.
After we left there, we were pulling into the closest hamburger stand....and my parents were already there. It was a funny family moment.

My brother isn't any better. He has tons of money and land....but for Christmas....he always gave the kids socks with 'Jesus' embroidered on them. To this day, my oldest son calls him Uncle Jesus Socks.

did he buy those sock like that or did he have them made? OMG! that's way too funny!
hubby's brother gave ALL the kids this little rap doll for christmas. even the BIG kids that don't play with toys anymore! The looks on all my teen nieces faces when they opened those up were priceless. I just about died laughing. Krystal's is still in the package. we figure that erika can play with it when she's about 2. LMAO!

At the time, my brother was the pastor of a large church in Alabama (Ft Payne, I think) which is known as the sock capitol of the US. He bought them with it already on there.
They were never worn. We love Jesus....but the kids didn't want the name on their socks.
I'm a little frugal because I have no choice and have to be careful what I spend...but if I had lots of money.....I'd be totally different.

Re: Cheap Family Members
Apparently my great Grandfather was a real cheapskate! They actually used his name when talking about being cheap...that was the only time I heard anything referred to him is when his name was mentioned when anyone was having a conversation about being a cheapskate..

Re: Cheap Family Members
my sister is a cheapskate.
Ive alway had to earn my own money for everything since i was about 14, and then when i was 16 i moved out so i had to pay bills and rent for myself too. So there been times when i could ahrdly afford more then £10 each on my family at xmas but i tried.
My sister however, pends money like it grows on trees. mainly on herself and things she doesnt need. she forgot my birthday this eyar and didnt get my dad anything for fathers day. i told her off for that, it only costs 10p to send a text!

Re: Cheap Family Members
My fat annoying english grandmother is sooo cheap. The last time I got anything from her was like 5 years ago. It was a crumpled up $5 bill in a USED envelope. Like, she actually took the stamps off, scratched out the addresses and wrote merry xmas on it. That was my christmas present. You know what she said? Here you go, go buy a hot dog and a hot chocolate! IT COSTS MORE THAN THAT YOU DUMB OLD LADY!
In case you can't tell I really really REALLY dislike her. You could even say, hate. And it's not because of that either. BTW she is loaded too.

Re: Cheap Family Members
I thought the English had that reputation. (No offense intended for our English members by the way)

Re: Cheap Family Members
Never heard of going Dutch?
Or all the jokes about Scots being motivated to save money in every way imagineable, to the outright bizarre?

Weiser, your post made me laugh! You have such a great sense of humour! I'm sorry about that sad present you received, though!
