I keep getting something similar from ebay....and I don't have an account there....nor have I ever made a purchase. I think I would hesitate these days to do alot of online banking or financial transactions.

It's really easy to put a scam like this together and really only costs the person doing it the price of a fake domain name.

I've been getting it a lot as well. I think it would be helpful if domain name companies would actually catch would-be scammers from registering these names in the first place. It's no longer just PayPal, but all kinds of banking institutions as well, many of which I've never heard of before and can't figure out for the life of me how they even got my e-mail address in the first place.

Sometimes I wish I was a coder, I could write a program to recognize scam sources I've never heard of before and to autoreply with an embedded virus file to screw up the source rig.

In the Netherlands we recently had a scam with one of the banks. Problem was of course that the email was in English, and that the Dutch speak Dutch. So you would have to be very naive to assume that your own Dutch bank would email you in english.
