Mondo I'm all over the game but it's delayed until the end of November. It's a good thing Oleg isn't living next door or I'd break in and beat the holy crap outta him.

Why would you release basically a North American game in Europe first? To top it off, people are getting the game on BT from NA and it will definately hurt the games release numbers here. I also heard that if this game doesn't sell well then that may be it for combat flight sims from 1C.

Is there any truth to all of this?

BTW, I will be buying it but have to wait till the end of November to do so. This is being released in the typical fashion since IL 2 FB came out, only another 2 weeks everybody. Lie to the people that put money in your pockets, rush the game and patches out unfinished and untested, keep it unplayable for the first 6 months so the game is bargain bin in under a year, and lock all the concerned posts at Ubi.com.

Sorry for the rant Mondo, it almost looks as if they've been trying to kill the game since it's first release. That really bugs me too because I'm hooked on WW2 airial combat flight sims. :bigsneer:

Its released tomorrow in the US so get a copy via mail order!

I think they did the two week thing because Aces was the other way round. You'd be suprised, the British and commonwelth forces are represented as much as the US in there.

The little ships are fun. You can do all sorts of things with them. The scripting is real easy to. Im in the process of making the Battle of Coral sea. I might try to make Leyte gulf afterwards if the maps there.

How much does a game like that cost....and what do you need in order to play it...joystick or whatever?

My son does the PS2 thing and has a special hook up so he can play other people online. They had a new game released this week also....which we are getting tomorrow for FIFTY BUCKS!

Its $40 but its a stand alone and expansion pack for IL2:FB and aces. Yeah, you definatly need a joystick, its WW2 combat sim and its very hard to pick up, it takes allot of patience, im sure duke will agree.

It took me forever to get the hang of it. I actually had to create a small mission with big, slow, friendly targets to shoot at for the first few weeks or so. I've been playing the game on and off (more off than on) for a while now and still suck at take offs and landings. I get owned on dogfight servers simply because I refuse to use outside views (unless it's a torpedo mission in an HE111) but on full real or locked in cockpit fights I hold my own.

As mondo said though, there is a steep learning curve involved in the game. I know a lot of people who bought the game, half played it, half let it collect dust. Of the half that played it, only a small percentage plays regularily.

You should come play some more Duke! NoTargets made some excellent co-ops and I really liked the one you made with all the zero's and the P38's. I love flying that plane!

the problem I think is its not somthing you can pick and play, it takes patience and some dedication and the planes are all very different so you pick one, learn it and then move on to another although there some if you learn them you can fly anything else. Its like going in at the deepend. Its painful to start with but the rewards are better.

However its an incredible game and the nice thing is you learn allot of history while playing it, especially from the original. I've learnt allot about the former USSR though it, more than I did at school.

I'll go on about this game all day so I'll stop now but heres my baby:

I play whenever I don't have my daughter. Today seems to be one of those days so I'll be looking for you.

Well if you and Mondo both have it, and others are soon to follow, then I'm gonna have to buy it myself.

I wonder if I install the entire IL 2 FB, AEP and Pacific Fighters under a new identity in Windows XP, will I be able to play on both types of servers?

When I touch down on the carrier and have my hook down do I have to pull back on the stick so the hook catches the arresting wire?

I think so, I also suggest your flaps are up so you don't lift right off the deck again.
