Because the people involved delude themselves that the money does not matter to them. When it actually does. Kevin "I am Beyond Trash" Federline seems to be of the same breed.

They claim it is the person. And may even consciously think that. However, the money is important too, although they will always deny this.
People in Hollywood are just as stupid as other people. They only get more publicity.

Most divorces are ugly to some extent. Celebrities are just more public so it seems worse. I don't think they know how to love another person.
