Default Favorite Childhood Game

Not sure if this has ever been a topic yet.

What was your favorite game as a child?

For me it was the slotted Stanley Cup Hockey (Maple Lafs and Habs) Rink.
I also enjoyed the Atari 2600, playing Dukes of Hazzard on our bikes and war in the forest.

You?

Remember, I was assembled myself in 1979

A few of the games I like M.U.L.E. & Archon (C64). I was quite a bit older than 4 when I ran into M.U.L.E.

Atari (don't know the exact type :oops Pitfall. Two levels, and I played a perfect first level. Quite an accomplishment, as you cannot save your game ever.

Early PC: of course chess (Psion). And a few other games, even though I have a hard time remembering exactly what they were. They were good enough excuses to get out of bed at 4AM though. Games I could spend hours on, so they must have appealed to my perfectionistic side.

Amiga 500: MadTV. And a few other games, but sometimes it is hard to know if it were originally PC games or not. MadTV is also available on PC too. Strange enough, I have not run in a funnier management game since that time - and it was released in the very early nineties!

8O I can't believe you didn't also add Monopoly, Rummoli, and Piggies and Old Maid, etc.

Didn't all my preaching about "not cheating" fall to deaf ears?

Luba, how to play "Piggies and Old Maid"? Never heard of a game with that name.

I'm sorry, Vautrin, that I didn't answer the question about Piggies and Old Maid. I wanted to make sure I had plenty of time to explain...

They are two separate child games.

Piggies: You separate the deck of cards into four groups face down. Then the next person turns a card up from any group and puts it in the center: Say it's a diamond. The next person has to pick up cards, again from any group of four, and has to continue picking up cards until they get a diamond to put on top of the laid down face up card already there. Then that person gets to put down anything he/she wants from the already picked up cards in her/his hand. It continues that way until all the cards are played, and the one holding any cards left is the Piggy. Bare in mind that a 3-year old can play this, unless, of course the poor little kid went by the above instructions. It is very much fun, IT Really is!!

Old Maid: All the cards are dealt to everyone playing. So everyone takes two pairs and throws them out (not in the garbage but somewhere on the table because they won't be used for this particular round anymore) eg. Say you have two twos, throw them out, two threes, throw them out) and continue that way until you only have one of a certain kind in your hand. But the Queen of Spades must never be thrown out. So when all this is done and everyone has their pairs thrown out, the next person to you picks a card from your hand, bare in mind that they can't see the card. So, if they happen to have a two, for instance, and they picked a two from your hand, they throw it out into the pile of paired discards. This continues, and if the unfortunate fellow ends up with the Queen of Spades, they are then the "Old Maid".

Just explaining the above, it is not likely that anyone will ever ask me to print instructions for a card game..
