I was wondering how you were doing, IC! So glad you posted! You HAVE to keep us up-to-date...you just HAVE to...never mind the excuse of being tired, 'enquiring minds want to know'!

Have I told you lately what a great person you are and obviously, a great Dad? I can't tell you these things unless you post, you know!

Hello, IC, I would like to know how you are doing? Fatherhood isn't an easy job, are you looking after yourself as well? Sometimes you can be so consumed by parenthood that you can become lost in the shuffle; it's all about balance, IMHO! Sharing responsibilities with the Mother so you both can have 'down' time for yourselves!

Hope no one minds if I bump this 3-4 month old thread, but I thought it was interesting.

At one time I might have hotly debated with my kids regarding the issue of marriage, but now I realize that this is really a rather minor bump, if its a bump at all, in THEIR LIVES, not mine.

IMHO, humans are naturally programmed to become parents at 16-20 years old, and die at about age 40.

We have artificially extended our lifetimes, yet we have antiquated social norms: i.e. we expect marriages to begin Later and Last Longer than nature ever has intended for our species.

You have a point Scott. Apparently some research points in the direction that the menopause was Nature's way of saving resources (and thus fertility) to the younger women in a community. This happened long before the advent of "civilization".
