Spelling Mistakes
All I can say is Thank God for spell check or much of what I write would look as if it were spelled by a 5 year old. Some of the words I seem to struggle with are: - Congradulations
- Seperately
- Proffessional
...and if it weren't for spell check I'd never type them correctly. I also have a problem with combing words often to form new words that don't even exist.
What words give you difficulty every time you try to spell them?

Re: Spelling Mistakes
Stationery or Stationary; one you write on, one sits in place.
Is it only a Canadian thing to add 'u' to words? example: neighbor - neighbour, labor - labour, harbor - harbour; etc.

Re: Spelling Mistakes
I think the 'u' is also an English (British) thing. I have lots of words I have difficulty with but can't think of them at the moment (it is a senior moment).

Re: Spelling Mistakes
My girlfriend has a "wierd" way to spell "weird."
My spelling is quite good. No real need for spell check. Plus in Dutch, with all the conjugations of verbs, it is not that useful anyway.
I think people also confuse affect and effect with each other.

Re: Spelling Mistakes
Here's the funniest spelling error I've heard in Dutch ,just for Vautrin I guess.
I got a call at work from a coworker, and he said on the phone; "Ik ben zo ziek, ik lig gewoon te cremeren op de bank" (ipv creperen)

Re: Spelling Mistakes
I guess only Vautrin and NT will get that one!

Re: Spelling Mistakes
I hate when people type "your" when they mean "you're".
I also hate when someone just types "to" when they mean "too".
I know there are some others that, for whatever reason, bug me... but I can't really think straight at the moment. (I haaaaaaate being sick!)

Re: Spelling Mistakes
haha .
"I am so sick, I am being cremated on the couch." instead of "I am so sick, I am dying on the couch."
I can handle spelling mistakes. But people who don't use punctuation ...

Re: Spelling Mistakes
I have difficulty with the usages of 'then' and 'than.' I have triple check myself and even then, I'm not so sure I did it right.

Re: Spelling Mistakes
patience patient patients - I also struggle on double letter words, often times skipping the extra letter and using a double letter where it doesn't belong.
I make a ton of typos constantly and often times my brain will just shut off and I'll toss letters in where they don't belong.
Funny thing about affect and effect, they both have similar definitions. But affect is a verb, effect is a noun.
So it is possible to affect the effect.

Re: Spelling Mistakes
You can effect change.
And an affect is a feeling.
The effects are pronounced.
So it is not that simple.

Re: Spelling Mistakes
I have lived in wales for about 2 years now, and i still don't know how to pronouce many of places or spell them.
for example;
Llanarmon-dyffryn-ceiriog
llan-y-pwll
tregeiriog
clywedog
bwlchgwyn.
Such a strange language. I think in welsh y is mean't to mean u.
