Default Oprah Helps Bullied Boy

Oprah helps bullied Alberta boy - Canada - Canoe.ca

Quote:
For the past eight years, the slight, shy Drayton Valley boy has been taunted, ridiculed and humiliated. Sometimes he was hit and pushed. This year the bullying became so relentless that his mother Jackie feared her despairing son would commit suicide.

I brought this subject up again after reading rufusc's thread yesterday. Why is bullying so rampant? Why are children so mean to others? Does it start in the home, with children watching parents fighting and trying to outdo each other?

One gentleman on the Oprah Show, whose son committed suicide due to bullying, said that bystanders should do something, involve themselves, and get the bully to back down. Do you agree? Would you get involved if you saw someone being bullied?

I myself have been bullied extensively. Praise Dharma that at least Dutch high schools start differentiating at the age of 12 (grade 7) by intelligence, so it was only 6 years of hell.

The problem about getting involved is that bullies tend to have parents who do not shy away from using a baseball bat on whomever gets involved .

I would defiantly step in or at least get some one to help. I was bullied my whole life so I know how the person being bullied feels. Who knows maybe that could save someones life either from the bully or themselves!!
