Reality Nanny TV

I was honored to meet one of Nanny 911's Nanny/TV Star's a few weeks ago. She brought up some good points about the reality TV show's and it's competitors that I think the general public watching this stuff should be aware of.. ( as I was a huge fan prior to meeting her)

Basically these "parents" are getting paid to air their dirty laundry all over the media, and frankly I think it is emotional abuse on the children. Faimlies are not fixed in a week or an hour of our TV vewing it takes months and months, Editors of these TV shows only show the bad parts and mix most of it up to look good to the viewers... in the end the parents made a quick buck, got 15 minutes of fame and who is left to deal with the despair and embarassment of having their "Naughty" behavior blasted all over their community.. that's right the children. WE all know how mean kids can be and how the "word" gets around I am sure the aftermath of this can be nasty.. I am the 1st to admit, I could use some help in the parenting arena, we all could. But to have my children acting up on camera with no clue that this behavior will be seen all over the country is shameful...

My kids act up at home all the time, but would shape up real quick if they thought someone else could see it.. in my opinion these kids are bing exploited for cash.

Yes, that is horrible. It is exploitative. There are dozens of cameras, hundreds of hours of footage, so they will simply select the most controversial stuff, as that will generate highest viewing ratings.

Just look at the differences between the first season of "Big Brother" and the fifth or sixth. Assuming the US version is not that much different from the Dutch version. The first season was much tamer, and now you have:
a) more 'freaks' being contestants. I have no issue with freaks (I am one) , but to simply select them for the bizarre behavior and troublesome interactions they will generate ...
b) a pregnant woman giving birth in the Big Brother house (happened in the Dutch one)
c) much more bizarre assignments.

etc.
Reality TV is actually quite unreal.

Too bad you can't tell your children that Mr. Teddy will see what they are doing (they simply won't believe it anymore).

I think reality shows are one of the worst things on TV these days. They aren't really reality. They are actors, not some people pulled off the street. I don't watch them.
