Default ECSTASY....the Lie

-
ECSTASY - There are NO Negative Effects to Ecstasy????

MDMA (Ecstasy), which begins to take effect within 20-40 minutes of use, produces short rusehs of exhilaration and nausea.

At low to moderate dosages, users report that ecstasy produces insight, understanding and acceptance of others. Users claim that psychological barriers disapper, and they feel less emotionally and sexually inhibited (the increased desire for touch makes sexual activity increase.)

Different users experience different effects from ecstasy and, as with any illicit sold drug, variations in dosage effects its toxicity and subjective effects.

Longer term negative effects include the following:
* Decreased desire to perform mental or physical tasks
* Decreased appetite
* Jaw clenching or lock-jaw (trismus)
* Teeth grinding (bruxism)
* Decreased sex drive
* Increased restleness, more anxious
* Motor tics
* Headaches

I've never tried it...but have friends who have.

Anyone else have any other insights or past experiences with this drug?

I was addicted to extacy for 2 years. I am 5'10 and at that time I weighed 98 lbs. Ex has herion, MDMA, Cocaine, Meth, rat poison ect. all packed in one little pill. I started out doing it recreationaly with my ex ( noah's father) we were hooked for a long time he is now in Rehab for Herion witch I KNOW started from Extacy. A very good man turned bad from this drug and I really don't think he will ever snap out of it.

Ex makes you feel like your on top of the world, you love everyone, everything feels wonderful, problems are gone, reality is gone. ect. but the thing nobody ever talks about is comming down from such a high. your body starts to shake, you become extreamly moody, and get to the point in life where you can only be happy if you take a little pill. Ex also eats your brain stem and years later simple things like feeding yourself can be difficult. I have much to add on this subject but will do so later when I am not working. I am so glad I got pregnant with my son! I stopped the moment I found out I was pregnant and I honestly think that if I would have continued this lifestyle I would be dead. I know several people that have ODed on ex.... Its horrible

WOW....I didn't even know it was addictive because I didn't realize what all was in it. My daughter's high school put out a great little magazine called 'The Empowered Parent' which is where I got the information from.

Anyone I've ever known who used it....only used it a couple of times. They said it was a nice high but not worth getting fired for. (We had quite a few random drug tests at work due to the hazzardous nature of the job.)

Thanks for sharing that Stoneheather. I hope a lot of teens will end up reading it.

Great story Stoneheather.

I never tried it or had access to it. I have an addictive personality so I know that I can get hooked on things pretty easily which helps me to steer clear.

Quite often I'm offered drugs of various types, this one especially. However I've never done drugs and am not the least bit interested so I just pass, personally I enjoy being in control of myself and aware of what I'm doing.

This drug is most poupular among teenagers today, that and a prisribption called zanax or Z bars witch is often mixed with extacy. Extacy is the scariest drug for parents more so for those with teenage daughters. It is very easy for men to take advantage of young girls when they are on a high because they feel safe with anybody. and the touch of another person seems incredible at that time... there is also a lot of homosexual/ gay acts that occur when your "Rolling" that you usually wouldn't do when your not high.

The rave scene is usually sponsoring this drug. Kids usually stay in a dank atmosphere, with strobe lights and techno/ trans music and "Blow Up" this means you purposly try to pass out to feel a sensation from extacy AKA "Bean". witch can lead to seizures and sometimes do without the person actually knowing it. When you come down from your "roll" you "Trip" the same way you would from LSD.

My son is in a deep world of crap if he grows up and try's drugs because momma knows everything..... Saying that I do want to make one thing clear that alot of people "assume" after knowing I was once a user. not saying you guys would "assume" this but I have heard it before. Yes my son has a disibility, he was not born with it, his disibility was an accident on behalf of the doctor when he was 2 years old... Most people assume that since I was once a user, my son is a victim of that.... That is NOT true in my case.

Since I'm older than dirt.....I was never really exposed in my younger years to any of the new drugs around. Now....I'm too financially challenged to pick up a drug habit or even goof with it!

I've learned more today reading Stoneheather's post....than I could've ever picked up elsewhere. That's what good forums are about!

BTW: I really admire you Paul C. You have a remarkable spirit for a young man. I sure hope my daughter hooks up with someone like you....and bet Duke feels the same way.

Thanks Merika, I truely appreciate your kind words! The only one I can credit is God and a valuable lesson I learned as a child of being aware of the consequences of your actions. I have a best friend was almost exactly like me in every way until 3 years ago, when he made some (IMO) stupid decisions which have made me a young father with some undesirable friends and over his head in debt. I love him dearly but my biggest motivation is not wanting to end up like that!

What I find remarkable is people who come here having gone through these experiences and want to discuss them, the way they affected them and want to get advice, help others and make positive changes in thier lives! That's why I'm so in love with Dukes' vision as well!

Just to add a footnote, I think to find the right person, you have to BE the right person. Just a thought.

Now back to the topic!!

Thanks for the compliment Paul. It's funny how the net's biggest n00b can actually do something good once in a while.

Looking over the time you've known me, did you ever think I'd create a site with this type of focus? I never even knew I had it in me.

the drugs that are out there available for kids these days is really scary! When I was a teen, the harshest drugs we had around was hash (I grew up in a really sheltered town up north).

I never knew a whole lot about ecstacy. WOW! It's really scary stuff!

Gosh....I can remember going to church camp when I was 9 or so..and they had a marijuana leaf to show everyone. I didn't even know what the heck it was! HAHA!

Kids now know and are exposed to so much more than I was.

I know what you mean Star.....I grew up in a one redlight watermelon town. GEEZ!

I was in the 7th grade when a friend of mine showed me a joint she had and asked me to smoke it with her in the gully at school. I thought it was a rolled up cigarette! LOL! I refused the offer but I had no idea what that joint was until I went to the library to look it up! LOL!

I wish our kids weren't so exposed to all this crap. it's so sad.
