Witnessing Abuse

Scenario:

You are strolling through the Park on a beautiful Summer's day, feeling mellow and deep in thought about something nice. Suddenly, you come upon a man and woman arguing and he hits her or is very threatening. Other people are walking by and trying to ignore the situation.

What would you do?

If he hit her I might step in and say something. Being threatening, I don't know. I would hang around to be sure she was okay and probably take a picture of them with my phone. If it got real bad I would call the police.

If he hits her, I would step in and do something. If he is acting like he is going to hit her, then I would start walking very slowly and record everything on my phone (camera).

I would not know what I would do to be honest - I am not muscular. And I rarely carry a cell phone, and never one that has video options.

I'd probably try to remain conspiculously close around, just in case.

If he hit her I would intervene if I felt it was safe, most likely I'd ask others for help or call the police.

If he was threatening I would ask her if she was OK. Someone once asked me that when I'd had a huge argument with my boyfriend and refused to walk with him, so it looked like he was stalking me. I really appreciated it, even though I didn't need the help, but my boyfriend didn't

I find that women can get away with a whole lot more than men in such situations (ie intervening)
