Default A Must See Video

http://wm.atlrec.com/simple_plan/video/untitled_450.wmv

Canadian rockers SIMPLE PLAN are hoping to convince fans to be more responsible by including a harsh anti drink-driving message in their new video for UNTITLED.

The ADDICTED stars teamed up with America's MOTHERS AGAINST DRINK DRIVING (MADD) group to make the harrowing promo, which features a family being destroyed as the eldest daughter is killed in a car crash.

And the group insists they felt compelled to make the video with a message as a tribute to a high school friend who was killed in a drink-driving related accident.

PLEASE pass this on to any teens you know.

OMG, I cried through the whole thing! I'm still doing so...it had such a huge impact!! How a wrong decision and one moment in time can change everything....
I so agree that every teenager (and adult) should see this!
The idea "it can't happen to me" is why so many innocent people get hurt or die due to the" indestructible me" thinking of Drunk Drivers.
I must admit this is one of the situations that I've "stored in the back of the closet" riding with drinking drivers as a kid and an adult!

I think we all did that stupid thing of being in a car with a drunk driver or being the drunk driver ourselves. Back when I was young, it wasn't against the law not to wear a seatbelt or drink and drive. As long as you can see straight, it was okay and people did it all the time.

I stopped doing that when I was in my mid 20's because it seemed that's all i'd see in the news were people dying in drunk related car accidents.

When you drive a car under the influence, actually, under any influence, you might as well be holding a gun to people's heads. it's not worth the risk.

I never drove! I don't have my license either. Have been drunk only once - and that was on foot.

You'd be so surprised to know the number of people driving drunk!

They have a law in France that gives a certain percentage of allowed alcohol in your blood - the equivalent of 4 glasses of wine or so. That's playing Russian rullette with your life, IMHO.

It's a matter of reflexes and once you say "yes" to a glass of alcohol, it's over. I don't understand how they could have passed this law!

Perhaps the parliamentarians were afraid of losing their own licenses?

As to 4 glasses of wine, that is extremely high. Here the limit is the equivalent of 2 glasses of wine (as a maximum), and they consider it too high!

Worse, V.

They're afraid that if they ban alcohol altogether, their wine industry will be put in peril  ! Try explaint them that the sales of Bordeaux have nothing to do with drinking and driving!

that's crazy twinkle! If I drank 4 glasses of wine now, i'd be really drunk (but i don't drink to begin with so that's why it would have this effect on me.). I wouldn't be able to drive and here, I'd get a DUI from that. They need to lower that for real. and I do agree with you. if you choose to have that first drink, you shouldn't be driving at all.

Well, in the Netherlands there was even a discussion to forbid drinking and driving completely. If you drank, you would not be allowed to drive. But the body can produce amounts of alcohol too - so even if you did not drink, you would be getting a fine for drunk driving!

As of now, they are trying to lower the maximum that is allowed (possible with youth being allowed even less).

Some people react worse to alcohol than others. I can't stand beer. But if I had to, I could drink a bottle of wine and still play a decent game of chess online. (Yes, I will never drive drunk!)

If they really wanted to stop drinking and driving to a large degree....they should simply be in the parking lot of a bar and make someone wait to drive until they've sobered up. As Twinks pointed out though...there is also revenue to be considered. Most countries make a great deal of money from their liquor industry.

Yes, but also great expenses. Consider (if you have partially State-paid health-care) the costs of all the accidents to third parties. Treatments, and loss of ability to work for an income, and thus be dependent on welfare until retirement.

In a side note: I believe that Putin wants to nationalize the Russian Wodka production again.

the bartenders and waitresses here have to take a course and hold some kind of degree stating that they took the course. what this means is that they must not serve any liquor to anyone who has passed the limits. this law isn't enforced either, obviously.

I think that if the Police were to be sitting in the parking lots, less people would be driving while drunk. but they're not allowed to do that by law.

drinking and driving is the stupidest thing anyone can do IMO. I did it when i was younger and am embarrassed that I did. I would never do that ever again in my life. I'm lucky to be alive and lucky i didn't kill anyone. The older you get, especially when you have kids of your own, the wiser you get.

I think that's why they've worked so hard at making alcoholism a disease. As for me....I think it's harder for some people to quit and they may have to get some help in doing so....but I don't consider it an illness like cancer. People drink because the WANT to drink. They can stop if they WANT to stop.

We have 0 tolerance campains here all the time so if your caught driving even under .08 blood/alcohol in your blood then you can be in big trouble.

I'm smart, I only fly my helicopter or private jet when I'm blasted now.

I don't know what it is with me, but I've always had an extremely high tolerance for alcohol, even when I was 14 I could out drink anyone my age. When I used to drive to the bars I would have about 8 beer during the night (about 3 hours, 11-2am) and drive everyone home. I saw nothing wrong with this as I always felt sober, then one night we hit a R.I.D.E program and got the breathalizer. Guess what, sober. Yeah it did read some alcohol, but it was nowhere near the .08 - more like .03.

So I guess I've never drove drunk, and I never will - but I have no problems getting wasted and getting a ride home with someone who's had a few too many. Stupid huh?
