drinking as a cry for help
I think i drink as a cry for help, as a way to first numb the feelings then let them out uncontrollably. I think i do it to get attention.

If those are the reasons that you drink, then you should be very careful because that will turn you into an alcoholic before you know it. Alcoholics start by drinking to numb pain.
I think that you should try to find something else to do to take your mind off the depressing thoughts you have DA. Join a club or start a hobby of some kind. Keeping yourself busy with some activities other then alcohol related will do wonders for your self-esteem.
You know that alcohol will only depress you all the more. it's a downer not an upper. Alcohol is the worst thing for people who are depressed.

I think everything you do is a cry for help to be perfectly honest.

I guess you could spend some time trying to figure out exactly WHAT kind of attention you are seeking.....and then see if drinking even gets you close to where you want to be. In some cases, drinking can relaxe you or enhance a social time....in other cases...it's a waste of time. Only you can determine that.

Drinking alone is BORING....unless you are online with friends. I would never enjoy drinking by myself.

I do drink alone at times. I either buy a beer/ I feel like drinking beer, here no one driks beer, I need my one beer once a month, for crying out loud/ - usually when it's very hot and clean up the house or cook or do things like that.
I'm buying wine when I have friends coming over and when I feel like cooking fish - greatest receipe ever. I drink wine alone when I'm usually very sad - and I keep posting or reading or watching a film.
I never drink when I'm happy - of should I say I never drink alone when I'm cheerful!

Singing the Blues  Yeah the other day I laid sleeping and I woke from a terrible dream
So I called up my friend Jack Daniel's and his partner Jimmy Beam
And we drank alone, yeah, with nobody else
Yes, you know when I drink alone, I prefer to be by myself

Twinks.....once I start drinking a beer....I don't feel like doing chores at all. Mainly, because either I have to continue drinking or I'll fall asleep.
I have to make sure I have everything done in advance.....before I open the first one.

I've fallen out of drinking beer, Merika. I only drink it when I go to bars and my friends and I have parties, but at one of us place. And either wine, whiskey or gin.
I miss its taste, it's like I'm thirsty for beer, LOL. Beer energises me. Until the peak. After that, it's just me, my beer and my puter !

I used to drink alone at times. It helped me with writing. Writing is a very tiresome process, that lasts many hours a day. A drink makes you lose your mental inhibitions in the short term.
However, alcohol is actually a depressant. So if you are feeling numb, the last thing you need to do, is drinking.
If you are alone, you can also do a few other things. Try playing computer games, or reading books (literature) for instance. There must be something you like that you can do, instead.
Perhaps you have to overcome initial resistance, when you take up a new habit. But if you do something, persevere, and you will start to feel better.
