Abuse of the Elderly

I just watched a Show about the Elderly in Senior facilities and I no longer want to end up in one. It is horrifying! As people now live longer the abuse is much worse. People suffering from Dementia abuse one another and there are not enough Nurses or Care Givers to help.

The camera crew filming this show filmed an actual elderly woman-to-woman abuse. When one of the film crew finally found a nurse, it took her forever to get to the situation. She just walked ever so slowly and it was the camera crew that ended up trying to help. One elderly woman was murdered by another. She admitted to being frightened and knew she was eventually going to be murdered, yet nothing was done.

In one situation the camera crew beeped for help, and still twenty minutes later, no one was showing up to help.

One of the nurses being interviewed said that NO WAY was she going to put her elderly in-laws into one of these homes. She has been working in a facility for fourteen years and says there are up to four fights every day.

its weird coz here you dont hear about the elderly attacking each other but being abused by the staff at the care homes, beaten, locked in rooms, starved, even sexually assaulted.

its sickening.

I've heard that happening in Canada as well!
