Default Is this where we introduce ourselves?

I just signed up, and have looked through some of the forums. I found a few things that interest me.

I hope this is where I introduce myself. My apologies if it's not!

I was married for 15 years after dating the guy for 4 years. Then he filed for divorce. I was in shock for a short time, but also relieved (we weren't happy). I was a stay at home mom starting soon after my first child was born, and wasn't sure what to do. It probably didn't help that both my dad and my ex were overcontrolling, and I never had much of a chance to figure who I am.

During the divorce, despite swearing off men, I met a wonderful man. We met online (he's from another country), and I went to see him in person. At first, I thought he'd just be a really nice person to know, and I figured it would be nice to get away for a week. But we fell in love, he came here, and we got married last year. It was a bit of an adjustment, and dealing with immigration was stressful. But things have calmed down, and things are really good with us. My kids LOVE him, too, which is great. They're doing so much better since he got here. He's a natural with kids, especially my son.

My personal life is finally wonderful. I still have some stress dealing with the ex (no big surprise), and trying to get a full time job. Also, my weight has been a problem for years. I fluctuate quite a bit, and really want to figure out a way to get healthier. I eat well (whole grains, veggies, etc), but too much - and also indulge in sweets. I used to belong to a gym, which made me feel better, but I was still overweight. And I used to work out 5 - 6 times a week (I built up quite a sweat then, too).

I'm learning more about myself, but it takes time. I'm also trying to figure out ways to overcome my personal obstacles. For example, today I realized I was tired, not hungry, so I took a nap instead of eating. It's a process.

I love to help others, and hope to get the opportunity to do so. It would be really nice to get a job doing that, or making enough money to take care of myself and my family, and also help other people. I've always thought about foster parenting, or figuring out a way to raise money or collect things for people in less fortunate situations. I love reading stories about that. There was one about a woman who collects shoes to send to third world countries, for example.
