I was about to reply and tell you to try changing the monitor... Dah well looks like you got it all sorted out anyhow. Glad to hear it!
if you want to actually use the other monitor on the backup PC try cranking the refresh rate way down. Perhaps to 50-60 or so, it might make the monitor usable for a good long time. It might also have an affect on yur eyes heh....
