There is one component that we are very comfortably omitting in our insistance that children's behavior is a result of parents, TV, internet, schools, peers, drugs, etc. etc. etc......

What about the kids themselves? I mean, if two kids live in the same house with the same parents and go to the same schools on the same planet, even to the point where they EAT the SAME FOOD EVERY DAY, then why would one go completely off the chart bonkers, and the other be planning which college he would attend while he's in 5th grade?

IMHO, these personal discrepencies have always existed: Wally was fundamentally different than The Beaver. But the Depth and Breath of ways The Beaver could become entangled with poor decisions have increased exponentially since 1950.

Guarding against all the variables is a challenge that 1950's parents never imagined: Hell, 1990's parents never imagined!!! How many girls were "Cutters" in 1980? Who was on MySpace in 1994?
