Default Re: Faith In Humanity Restored

I don't know if I'm more inspired by the Thrift Store worker returning the money or the family giving her a cash reward.

Seems that some people look at me like I have stolen from them when I return their lost items instead of a reward or even a 'thank you.'

If I did find $30,000, my first thought would probably have been to keep the money too.

Thinking the money was from drugs would've probably been my second thought, but that would only be more reason to turn it in. Most people in that business can track down where they hid their money pretty fast with intimidation. I sure don't want someone chasing me for their $30,000 they think I have and killing me over it.

Thrift Stores keep records of who donates what. I'm willing to bet that someone in that family would have remembered which box they put it in eventually. There wouldn't have been anything they could have done about it once they realized what they had done, but it is the principle of it.

When the StolenSideKick Story first came out, I thought that this guy was an idiot for trying to get a phone back. It was a very young mother who found it in a taxi cab. Why go to all the trouble to get the phone back, just for the principle of it?

Even when everyone thought the SideKick Story was bogus, I still followed it religiously. Through the course of this great internet drama, I learned some things from it.

A.) I'm not in charge of judging who deserves what in this world. Sure, I have my opinions about things, but boy did I misjudge this young mother with the SideKick.

B.) Today it was a SideKick, but tomorrow it could be an elder woman's Social Security check or her medication.

I don't think TKDLady was trying to judge you. With your "Lol" comment, I think she thought you were teasing and she joked back. I could be wrong, but that's how I read it.
