My grandfathers were closest to me. Both my grandmothers were very awful people. I often wondered how it happened.. Two really cool guys (my grandfathers) hooking up with these women, heh.
I used to just enjoy sitting down and playing cribbage with my dad's dad. We would spend hours chit chatting about nothing, while grams got plastered and loud on the couch. My mom's dad was a great teacher and I learned quite a bit about working on automobiles from him. He never said much, but if ya listened, you would most certainly learn.
