I can't remember how long ago I saw that video but it was as funny then as it is now, lmao.

As to this branched policing discussion, allow me to add how it's actually done here. We record incidents by repeat offenders in a staff area and moderate as a team so no one person has autonomy, including myself. This type of policing is the only way to act in a timely manner where the punishment fits the crime. Immediate bans are only ever handed out for blatant forum/site/member abuse and are obvious in nature. Lesser offenses are cataloged and discussed in depth in our staffing forum and policing is based off popular vote. This level of staff discussion ensures that staff is always on the same page when it comes to further action negating the need for overruling a staff members decision.

In other words if you do cross the line you will be notified that your topic is under review with a pending decision. The post in question will be split from the forums and moved to a policing area for discussion and possibly a staff vote.

I've worked many sites with all sorts of policing techniques and have tried to structure Lifesupporters and my other sites in a manner that is fair and allows the member to determine their lot. Here we don't want to have any influence in a members participation onsite, we only want to pave the way but not tell you how to drive it.

We do not have "staff cliques" nor do we segregate our forums, everyone here is here by choice and as such should all be equal with no exception. We do not play favorites and nobody is better than anyone else.

You all may have noticed that we do not police this place nearly as aggressively as many other sites online and believe me, we have a lot to lose if we let things go to far. Losing anyone of our rankings with Family Friendly, Safesurf or ICRA would be a devastating blow so we ensure these rankings are not compromised and that our content fits within the guidelines submitted to these bodies. These ratings are the line in the sand and we're all collectively responsible for for ensuring they are not compromised. Lifesupporters was built with a "Web Everyone" mentality in mind so should we lose any of these ratings it's likely we'll be offline inside the week because Web Everyone means child to adult, not just adult.

We all walk the line now and again and we all weave to one side or the other now and again. There simply is no avoiding this balance in a healthy webforum so policing it is futile, it only means forum death.

Rest assured though if the staff agrees that anyone has pushed the limits excessively then that persons time here is limited indeed.

BTW, I do intend to post a more official Policing Guideline within our FAQ at a later date, I only used this forum as the discussion was already in progress.
