Default Strangers are treated better

I find it increasingly difficult to understand why people would treat a complete stranger better than their own family.
This is with the exception of idiots who just abuse people any time of day and anywhere.

I'm talking about an average person who verbally abuses their partners.
Imagine a wife who is at home and is turning the corner into the living room, husband just happens to be walking around the same corner but in the opposite direction.
They bump into each other, no real drama, just a bit of embarrassment and bump to the arm.
Unfortunately these two don't get on so well anymore, so the first thing they may say to each other is watch where your going you idiot, or what ever else.

2 Hours later, husband has gone to the supermarket to get milk, he rounds a corner and bumps into another man, no real drama, just a bit of embarrassment and bump to the arm.
They swap apologies, smile and walk off.

Most people would say that, that's life and pretty much normal.
It's not, what it is, is simply taking someone else for granted, which is a very high contributor to spousal abuse.

My wife and I have been together for 5 years, WE, have never argued, never shouted, and definitely never hit each other. I treat my wife with the utmost respect at all times and I also treat her as if she were only going to be here for today. For tomorrow she may not.
