There is no limit to how many words you write. Of course only a few paragraphs will end up on the main page in order to keep the page layout in tact but everything else will be accessible via a "read more" link to the full article.
I'd say anything you write is ok simply because it's your day, not mine so who am I to say what your content should be like? If you like though, I can take a look at it once it's done and streamline it a bit. I don't think I'd do much as it needs to be your words, not mine.
