I think the entire idea is merely a romantic label that is meant to inspire hope but there is no credible evidence that anything like this exists.

While there are couples that stay together through thick and thin over the courses of their lives, does that make them soul mates? Do couples not disagree, argue, insult and hurt each other over a lifetime together?

To me, a soul mate is someone who would never see you hurt but more importantly, someone who is incapable of hurting in the first place.
