Scientists from Hammersmith Hospital, London, in collaboration with New York and Budapest doctors, recently announced that womb transplant will be possible in two years time. Therefore, women who were born without wombs, women who had to have it removed due to serious health disorders or infertile women will have the chance to conceive a baby and to carry the embryo in their wombs for the whole 9 month period. They will be able to give birth to a child exactly like any other healthy woman, but women with transplanted wombs will have to give up the imported uterus after 2 or 3 years.
However, babies carried in a transplanted uterus will be delivered by Caesarean section procedure in order to prevent any complication that might occur. After the delivery of the baby, the woman will have the imported womb removed sooner or later because, in time, her organism is going to reject the new organ. (Softpedia)
