Default UK Schools try abolishing homework

Alex Taylor thinks school homework is a waste of time.

As he goes through his physics homework, Alex, a pupil at a secondary school in Edinburgh, thinks there are few benefits in the ritual.

"I don't know if I'm getting something out of it," he said.

"I'd rather not do it. I don't think life would be bad without homework."

Some head teachers in the UK agree and are experimenting with no-homework policies.

I kind of agree. Once a young person has been in school for EIGHT hours, they've put in a full days work. I don't think they should have to come home to a couple of hours of homework. Some kids have sports or other acitivities, while many of the older kids have job. People say this prepares them for college but when did college become the measuring rod of how kids should have to grow up? Colleges need to pipe down and quit thinking they run the world with all their stupid expectations.
