I was talking about if I was on a big boat and it sank way out in the ocean. As far as local beaches....I really don't worry about it. Consider this...we have millions of people in the water for hundreds of coastal miles. Two people get bit or killed out of all that....and the world panics. It CAN happen....but chances are....it won't. You have a better chance getting smacked by a truck in an intersection.
The kids around here hang out and even go into the beach water at night. My daughter got her foot cut on a crab shell last night night though.....haha!
