I've lived in a few places round Europe (including Moscow which was the second most expensive city on earth when I was there and your average policeman earned 100$ a month.) and now I live in the south of Spain. I've discovered that it all just depends on how much you earn. Rich people and expensive houses and cars everywhere. Poor people and slums everyewhere. Just have to know where to look.
A friend of mine who lives in NYC told me last week that she earns 35,000$ a year (which here in the south of Spain would be considered GREAT money)but lives in a one room-does-everything studio apartment ion the Upper Eastside. Here in an averagely big city in the south of Spain, rent is 500â⬠/ month for about 60m2. It's difficult to find a 25 year mortgage now for much under 1000ââ¬/month.
